1. What is the famous OTT, Over The Top?

Before telling my story in Paraguay, I want to explain the technology that changed the way the world consumes content. And how that technology led me to build my project.

To understand my work, my projects and even the conflicts I am facing today, first it is necessary to understand one thing: what OTT is.

Because the truth is that the problem was never my company.

The problem was the technological change that OTT brought to the world, and how it impacted markets that were not prepared to compete without monopolies or old structures.

OTT means Over The Top.

The idea is simple, but revolutionary: allowing content to reach the user directly, without depending on local infrastructure, repeaters, cable operators or intermediary companies controlling territory by territory.

Before OTT, if a creator wanted their content to be available in 20 countries, they had to negotiate 20 times.

Each country had different rules, different policies and, many times, even censorship or economic barriers that prevented many works from ever leaving their own region.

OTT changed all of that.

Today, platforms such as:

• Netflix

• YouTube

• Amazon Prime

• TikTok

• Disney+

• Instagram

operate under global OTT models, where content is distributed from a central origin, with clear rules, international standards and cloud infrastructure.

That is why you can upload a video to YouTube from Paraguay and someone in Japan can watch it.

Or record a TikTok in Brazil and go viral in Mexico.

OTT democratized content, reduced costs, enabled new businesses and prevented territorial monopolies from deciding what or who could broadcast.

And when a technology changes the rules of the game, not everyone who lived from the old model accepts that change easily.
